Summary of the role

Exciting, newly introduced role reporting to the CFO and working alongside the credit control and wider finance team, who will be empowered to take ownership of the firm’s WIP management and billing processes. The role will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and streamline the firm’s WIP and billing processes, implementing best practice across the firm, playing a key role in ensuring the firm is controlling its WIP and disbursements exposure. Look to make processes more efficient and automated
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business, implement regular WIP review meetings with partners and directors
  • Act as centre of excellence and the point of escalation for all WIP management and billing issues, playing a key role in ensuring the firm is successfully meeting all billing deadlines by managing and supporting the fee earning teams
  • Manage compliance with the firm’s lockup policy in respect of WIP and WIP write offs
  • Provide training and guidance to the business on best revenue management practices
  • Help to develop meaningful and insightful WIP reporting for the CFO
  • Develop and ensure compliance with time recording and management policies, including monitoring of missing timesheets, incorrect time recording behaviour, and management of time transfers
  • Assist in the production and circulation of regular utilisation and recovery reports

Required Skills and Experience

  • You will be able to demonstrate extensive relevant revenue control and management experience within the professional services sector
  • Effective communication skills – both verbal and written with the ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of different audiences and build effective relationships.
  • Innovative and strategic thinker for the future of the function
  • Drive and enthusiasm, with the ability to implement change and drive forward best practice revenue management behaviours across the firm
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Proficient user of Excel with a competent level of expertise in MS Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • A passion for how IT can be applied to streamline and automate processes
  • Experience of using Practice Engine / Practice Management Systems, and PowerBI would be desirable but not essential
